In non Covid times we meet c.10 times per year at our office in Heswall. Meetings are about 2 hours. In Covid we meet virtually for an hour weekly.

We are a  small, independent charity providing care for the elderly in two registered residential care homes in Wirral. We were established as an Abbeyfield society in March 1967 and have evolved into the field of Social Care.

What will you be doing?

We are a charitable company limited by guarantee. We have accommodation for 26 residents in our two houses. We pride ourselves on the fine level of care we provide and are rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission who are our principal regulators. We aspire to the 'Outstanding' rating. Being small we are able to provide a cosy, homely atmosphere. More can be seen of us on our website at allandalecaregroup.com

We have administrative staff so Trustees consder and settle main strategy rather than routine operating issues. We usually meet ten times per year at our office in Heswall but during the Covid 19 situation we meet virtually on Zoom weekly to monitor progress.

We would particularly welcome applicants from Social Care or associated Health care backgrounds. We have a well trained, motivated staff who have performed with courage and commitment throughout. A Trustee could expect to take decisions which make huge differerences to the lives of those in our care and staff alike.

What are we looking for?

We would ideally like someone with experience of care of the elderly in a registered residential care environment. Otherwise someone from the Heatth sector in general acquainted with relevant issues would be welcome,

What difference will you make?

The Care Home industry has suffered badly during the Covid 19 crisis. We need to identify the best means to recover and regain  our business viability. There is a risk to many providers and wholesale closures would leave vulnerable people at risk. We take our responsibilities to those in our care very seriously and are anxious to ensure we make the right decisions to safeguard their interests. Central to that is informed and imaginative planning.

What's in it for the volunteer?

We offer an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the elderly: to work with a small Board of dedicated people - fellow volunteers and a skilled and committed staff.

Before you apply

We would expect to receive applications through Reach.
