We want a board of Trustees who have a heart and vision for developing the work of our charity. We are looking for trustees with a background in HR, finance, fundraising, education, health sector and marketing and communications.
SEEN provides a safe space to support those facing unplanned pregnancy and baby loss. We also deliver healthy relationship and sex education through our work in prisons and schools.
We are a small charity based in Twickenham with a team of 8 part time staff, 15 volunteers, and (currently) 5 trustees. We support residents from the London boroughs of Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow.
Who are we looking for?
We want a board of Trustees who have a heart and vision for developing the work of our charity. There are no specific qualifications needed, but we are especially interested in meeting individuals with any of the following skills, attributes and experiences. These may have been gained through your career, volunteering, or lived experience:
Our current board has a majority of male Trustees, so we are particularly interested in speaking with female applicants interested in joining us, but this is not essential. As a faith-based charity we are looking for Trustees with a Christian faith, since this is integral to our vision and ethos.
Time Commitment
The board meets formally every 2 months. As a small charity, our Trustees are hands-on and involved in supporting the day-to-day running of the charity to some extent. There is some email correspondence between meetings, and occasional informal meet-ups with staff or other trustees.
Next steps
Interested applicants are invited to have an informal conversation with our Chair as a first step, and will be offered the opportunity to meet with other staff and trustees as part of our recruitment process.
Those interested in applying for the role will be asked to complete a short application form and attend an interview with members of the Board of Trustees.
SEEN has a small friendly team of trustees who work to ensure that the employed team under the Centre Director deliver our charitable objectives and to ensure that the charity is well managed and governed.
I enclose several quotes from current and former trustees, plus a quote from our Chair (who was previously a trustee too)
“What I can say is that is enjoyable and rewarding being a trustee. We welcome applicants who have previously been a trustee, people who would like to become a trustee and also people who have either work experience in some of the areas where we require some particular experience, or have lived experience of some of the issues are clients are going through.”
“I have been a Trustee for 9 years and it has been brilliant to be part of such a dedicated and efficient team. All the Trustees, especially the more recent team, have excelled in their different areas of expertise.
It has been great to work alongside the dedicated employees and the volunteers within the charity. They are a hard working and committed team who are passionate about providing an excellent service to the clients.”
