We’re looking for a Trustee Treasurer to join our board and help guide our mission to improve educational outcomes in our Alternative Provision (AP) school, which operates with a strong Christian ethos. 

What will you be doing?

Our organization is committed to achieving a "Good" Ofsted rating, meeting independent school standards, and expanding to two additional sites.

About the RoleAs Trustee Treasurer, you will play a key role in overseeing our financial strategy, ensuring sound financial management, and supporting sustainable growth. In addition to financial oversight, you’ll act as a sounding board and support for the operation manager, helping to navigate challenges and drive strategic improvements.

Key Qualities & Attributes

  • Senior Leadership Experience (SLT): Proven track record in financial leadership, preferably within education or a not-for-profit setting, with a focus on robust financial controls and strategic financial planning.
  • Financial Management Expertise: Skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial risk assessment, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to Christian Values: A passion for our Christian ethos, with the ability to support and promote these values in financial and operational decisions.
  • Understanding of school Settings: Familiarity with the unique financial and operational challenges of Alternative Provision schools.
  • Governance Experience: The ability to provide constructive challenge, work collaboratively with senior staff, and contribute to strategic decisions.

What are we looking for?

  • A finance professional. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise an enthusiasm to learn, drawing from sound commercial experience and an understanding of SMEs.
  • A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists.
  • Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors
