Time

Either in or out of office hours Estimate of time needed:
3-7 hours / week
1 to 2 days a week either from home or in the office plus attendance at trustee board meetings 6 times a year lasting approx 2 hours.

Providing the board with up to date financial information, as required and financial advice enabling them to make financial decisions consitant with their responsibilities.

What will you be doing?

This is a Board level post, and the successful applicant will have to fulfil the duties of Trustee and Treasurer as prescribed by Company and Charity legislation, including:

 - maintaining the Company's books of account, currently held on Xero accounting  

software, and adapting the same to meet changing legislative and Board requirements

- preparing annual accounts to Trial Balance level, for inspection by the Company's Independent Examiner

- rendering returns to HMRC in respect of VAT, Corporation Tax and Gift Aid, and ensuring that the Company's tax affairs are compliant with current legislation

- rendering annual returns to the Charity Commission

 

 

What are we looking for?

This role requires adherence to deadlines, an understanding of charity tax law and the ability to communicate these to fellow trustees, the ability to forward plan and set budgets for other departments.

 

What difference will you make?

This is a pivotal role and the successful applicant will be involved in the continued development of this railway and it's museum based on sound financial principles. In addition they could become as involved in other activities as they wish and undertake additional training as required.
