Treasurer needed for a Multicultural charity based in Banbury, offering playgroups, drop ins, youth groups, support for Domestic abuse and support to refugees. We have healthy finances at present but have recently lost a Treasurer.

What will you be doing?

Our Project Manager has recently left the organisation, so this is a pivotal moment, and an opportunity to set new directions for the charity. Consequently the finances and budgets need a fresh eye. Currently there are only three Trustees, so a new Treasurer will bring valuable skills and expertise. We have a very able accountant with whom you will work, and independent fund-raisers with whom to liaise. Sunrise is unusual in the range of services it offers and its Multicultural emphasis - it is the only such charity in this region. We would be particularly interested in Trustees with knowledge and experience of working with similar charities, and a particular interest in Multicultural issues.

What are we looking for?

Experience in finance, and an ability to understand and handle complex funding streams and be able to explain them to other Trustees in an accessible way. Ability to work in a team, and willingness to attend meetings in person when necessary,, as well as remotely. Some local knowledge and familiarity with the local area would also be an advantage.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee, you would be joining a small team of experienced trustees, two of whom have served the charity for over 10 years. We are looking towards exploring new directions for our work, as well as stabilising the organisation, following an unsettled period. An independent consultant is helping us in this complex task, to which you would be making an important contribution.

Before you apply

Trustees are asked to complete a simple Nomination form stating what drew them to Sunrise, and what skills they feel they can offer. Following an interview with 2 trustees, and subject to a successful DBS check they will then be voted on to the board.
