Reach Out for Mental Health (ROFMH) is a suicide prevention service operating in Essex set up to reduce the number of attempted and completed suicides in the area. We're looking for amazing people to join our board of mavericks.
What will you be doing? Reach Out for Mental Health is on the lookout for new, dynamic, and inspiring Trustees to join our Board. We’re particularly keen to welcome someone with a successful background in business or experience helping charities grow their trading income – someone who can help us think sustainably, build partnerships, and open up new opportunities to fund the life-saving support we offer.
But more than just business brains, we’re looking for heart.
You might have lived experience of emotional distress, or have supported someone through a difficult time. Maybe you’ve sat in the dark with someone until morning came. Maybe you are someone who knows the power of being heard. If that’s you, then you already speak our language.
We need Trustees who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, who get excited by doing things differently, and who want to be part of a charity that’s breaking moulds, not making them.
If you're business-savvy, community-driven, and ready to roll up your sleeves, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of heart, head and hands-on experience.
Essential (or very welcome!) experience:
Qualities we value deeply:
We’re especially interested in hearing from people whose voices aren’t always represented in Board rooms – including people from minoritised communities, LGBTQIA+ folks, younger adults (under 40), and people with lived experience of poor mental health or suicidal thoughts.
If you’re unsure whether you’re the right fit – please reach out anyway. We’d love to have a conversation.
What's in it for the Trustee? This is an exciting time for Reach Out for Mental Health as we expand our services and explore bold new ways to support people across Essex who are struggling with their mental health. You’ll be stepping into a charity that’s not afraid to challenge norms and pioneer an alternative, trailblazing approach to suicide prevention.
As a Trustee, you won’t just be sitting around a table. You’ll be part of a movement – helping shape the future of grassroots mental health support.
In return, you’ll gain:
We don’t expect perfection – just care, courage, and a willingness to roll your sleeves up (metaphorically or literally, your choice).
If you're interested in this role, send us an email and we'll arrange for a chat either face to face (always preferable!) or online depending on where you live.
