Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Trustee needed with vision and flair and enthusiasm to complement our management team. Management experience in the social care sector or charity governance is advantageous.

What will you be doing?

Our well established, happy and caring day centre serves the older population of Mere and the surrounding area (including Gillingham). We need an additional trustee to complement the existing committee in regular governance matters, and to help crystallise fresh vision looking to the future. Within the next 3 years we have the opportunity of relocating to a new, more extensive facilty with greater potential for development and innovation.

Experience of charity governance and/or management in a health or social care setting would be useful, and some project management experience would also be an advantage. Enthusiasm and commitment to improving the lives of older people is the primary quality required, and a willingness to occasionally get involved at the centre.

We became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in February 2024, lead by our experienced and committed team of trustees. We enjoy working together and would welcome a new member to to enhance our skills set.

What are we looking for?

Qualities: friendly, enthusiastic, dependable, committed to cause, with practical common sense

Experience: Charity/health/social care sector work with vulnerable adults, particularly older people. Leadership experience.

Skills: must have own computer and be IT competent in use of email, Word, Excel and video-conferencing.

What difference will you make?

This is a vital role, helping to ensure continuity of our service for vulnerable adults in a rural community which has seen a steady depletion of support facilities. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity at a pivotal moment in it's thirty year history. This is a chance to make a real and lasting difference in the community.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance and provide a covering letter detailing why you are interested in this role.
