We need business or creative professionals to help us maintain and develop the foundation from which we can continue to help people enjoy good mental health and well-being by them engaging in the creative process.

What will you be doing?

We have weathered the storm of Covid-19 and now we want to be able to meet the increased demand for our services that is following, by making sure that we have an even stronger board of trustees to allow us to meet the increasing demand for our services.

We need business or creative professionals with expertise in the following areas who can help us achieve some of our aims:

HR - we employ 5 part-time session leaders, equivalent to about 1 full time equivalent person, 1 part-time operations manager, and about 35 volunteers.

Finance - our turnover is doubling to about £70,000. We use an in house application to manage our accounts, but are trying to migrate to Clearbooks so that we have a more secure and robust cloud based solution.

Raising funds, including grant applications - we usually run 3 or 4 fundraising events each year, and need get about £50,000 a year from grants. Most of our grants are for one project and one year at a time, but we would like to secure across charity and over a longer period funding for the charity.

IT - we have recently started to develop a digital offering which needs to be put on a firm footing, and we have a wide range of digital assets.

Event and activity planning - he provide art and craft activities at about 10 community events and run over 350 regular sessions each year.

As well as contributing your business or creative experience you will share in the collective governance duties of a trustees. If you wish, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in the creative and service delivery aspects of the charity.

What are we looking for?

We require people with the generic skills and knowledge that relate to each of the roles that we outlined.

We need all trustees to be able to:

• act with integrity

• be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee

• help the charity create a strategic vision

• exercise good, independent judgement

What difference will you make?

By joining our board of trustee you will help strengthen the charity's foundation giving it a sound base from which it can extend its reach so that it can help even more members of the local community engage in the creative process and by doing so give them a tool to help them improve their mental health and well-being.
