Friends for Life is charity that provides a unique befriending service to lonely, socially isolated older residents in Bedford’s care homes. We are looking for new trustees to join our Board.
We are looking for individuals with a commitment to our objectives as a charity, and relevant professional knowledge, skills and experience that they can bring to the Board.
No previous experience of being a Trustee is required. All new Trustees are supported through an induction programme, including specialist training covering the role and responsibilities of trustees.
Whilst significant parts of the role can be undertaken remotely, you will need to be able to attend meetings and other in person events in Bedford. It will probably be helpful therefore if you live within a reasonable travelling distance of Bedford.
We are proud to have Trustees from a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds, and are particularly keen to encourage applications from individuals from under-represented groups, and from those with disabilities or other protected characteristics.
The key skills and experience areas that we are prioritising for board recruitment at present are:-
Our charity offers a unique service that makes a real difference to the well-being of some of the most vulnerable members of our community, tackling social isolation and strengthening community links. As a trustee, you will play an important role in helping us to fulfil our mission, as well as doing something that is personally rewarding and enjoyable.
If you think you may be interested in the role, or would like to know more, please get in touch via Reach Volunteering. You can also find out more about the charity’s work by visiting our website, https://friendsforlife.org.uk/
If you decide to apply, you will need to complete a short application form and provide us with your CV. There will also be an interview with the Chair of the board and another trustee, usually held remotely. We also like to provide prospective trustees with the opportunity to observe a board meeting, to see how we work in practice.
