Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are on a mission to inspire and support the next generation of physicists. We're seeking two new trustees to help us grow and impact even more schools.

What will you be doing?

We're a small charity focused on enhancing the physics skills of teachers and students, with a particular emphasis on underrepresented groups.

We are seeking two new trustees with expertise in charity law, STEM education, industry, or fundraising, to help us grow and impact even more schools. One of these trustees will also be invited to take on the Honorary Secretary role.

As a trustee, you’ll have the chance to guide the charity’s strategic direction, support fundraising efforts, and ensure effective governance. This is a voluntary, unremunerated role with travel expenses covered. The Board of Trustees meets 4 times per year, usually in London.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for trustees who are passionate about education and governance. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Legal expertise, particularly charity law and governance
  • Experience in STEM education and research, particularly within higher education or academic institutions.
  • Industry experience in STEM fields (engineering, technology, etc.) or corporate settings
  • Fundraising experience, with a proven ability to support development and donor relationships Additionally, candidates should be able to demonstrate:
  • A genuine commitment to the work of Physics Partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality.
  • Previous experience serving on a charity board or in a governance role (desirable but not essential).

Trustees meet 4 times per year, usually in London.

What difference will you make?

If you're passionate about education and want to help shape the future of physics education, we would be delighted to hear from you. You can view the full brief here:
