Sea Cadets support virtual conferencing, although trustees will need to be able to attend face to face meetings every 6-8 weeks.

The task include but not restricted to:Support the UMT chair and trustees to manage a safe, effective, and successful sea cadet unit. Ensuring all unit activities and matters comply with the charity regulations and MSSC policies.

What will you be doing?

Port Talbot Sea Cadets is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated trustee to join its Unit Management Team (UMT).  We are a long-established Sea Cadet unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. We currently have 30 cadets who come from all over the area.

The charity is currently looking for volunteers that can support with the running of the unit. There are free training courses available for you to develop new skills, boost your CV and support you in this role.

You have three years or more professional experience in positions with skills or knowledge such as:

  • General management and administration
  • Financial management / fundraising
  • Public relations / social media
  • Compliance / health & safety
  • Education / safeguarding
  • Estates / legal
  • You are reliable, honest and trustworthy
  • You are a good communicator
  • You work effectively with a team
  • You are able to motivate and encourage others

As part of our UMT you will support and shape our work and strategic direction. You will play a key role in making a positive difference to teenagers who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities.

We understand the responsibilities people have outside volunteering. We offer a flexible approach, recognising that everyone has skills to offer and that volunteering needs to fit around peoples' busy lives - so if a desire to support local young people is there, varying abilities to commit need not be a barrier.

As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to visit the unit

The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory courses and undertake a DBS (paid for by the MSSC).
