MAITS is looking for a Trustee. We are an international disability charity which improves access to healthcare and education services in the disability sectors in 23 countries so far around the world
Location: The role is London-based although the candidate does not have to live in London
Role and Responsibilities:
The role of the Trustee is to assist with the oversight and governance of the charity in accordance with its Memorandum and Articles of Association and to ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the Charity Commission. The role, which is non-executive, will also be to assist and advise management to ensure the effective operation of the charity ensuring it works effectively towards its vision and mission, harnessing its resources to maximum effect and upholding its core ethos and values and fulfilling a duty of care and to monitor that the deployment of funds is efficient and effective.
Type of person needed and expected level of experience:
MAITS is looking for new Trustees with any of the following experience-
Allied Healthcare Practitioner
We are seeking an allied healthcare practitioner, preferably with experience in pediatric neurodevelopmental disabilities, who has been exposed to capacity building programmes in low-resource settings.
Finance
Experience in managing or supervising charitable organisation accounts and financial health. We prefer candidates with finance or accounting qualifications and practical experience in this field.
Fundraising & Major Donor Giving
Experience/Involvement in fundraising for the international healthcare development sector. Offer assistance by actively promoting MAITS or contributing ideas to aid our small team in fundraising endeavors.
Time Commitment:
Trustees will be expected to attend quarterly board meetings in central London and virtually on alternate basis and to participate in additional meetings and conference calls, as well as regular e-mail communication.
Our Trustees generally spend 3 – 5 hours a month to address governance matters.
MAITS is growing rapidly in South Asia and East Africa as the demand of our programmes is increasing. Our programmes were re-designed last year to ensure that the our beneficiaries continue to receive the health care they need during the time of pandemic. The new hybrid model of working has proven to be the way ahead. We are reaching the most marginalised communities in our focused regions through our established in-country networks. To sustain the quality and impact of services we are required to gain diverse expertise on the Board. Your sector knowledge and expertise will help us ensure that the compliance requirements are always met when delivering our work. You will guide us towards our aspirations for 2025.
