Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Proud and Loud Arts is looking for people to join our Board of Trustees. We welcome passionate first-time trustees as well as those with previous experience.

What will you be doing?

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people who are willing to offer their time, expertise and ideas and who will make a positive contribution to one of Salford’s most important inclusive organisations. Proud and Loud Arts Trustees are volunteers. We ask for people to make a commitment to attend 4 – 6 meetings throughout the year. The term of office is three years and we ask people to serve one full term.

Proud and Loud Arts especially welcome applicants from the Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities, disabled people and younger people who are currently underrepresented. We are looking for people who will help shape our future with the focus on addressing the following skills:

  • Accountancy/Finance
  • Disability and Access (including lived experience)
  • Legal
  • Marketing
  • Strategic Change Management

Our Board meets at least four times per year within the Salford, Greater Manchester area between weekday evenings 7pm and 9pm. In addition, the Board operates four subcommittees:

  • Financial Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Quality, Audit and Risk
  • Access Improvement and New Members
  • Coaching and Mentoring

What are we looking for?

We are seeking someone with a background in legal, and strong interpersonal skills, an adaptive approach, and a strategic mindset who may or may not have previous board experience.

We pride ourselves on being a proactive board who offer relevant training opportunities to all board members whether they are established or new to our organisation.

The organisation aspires to be sector-leading on disability and work in partnership to foster inclusive practices across the arts and culture in the coming decade. Their vision is a world where disabled creatives are valued

We are keen to recruit from the local community in Salford and Eccles but welcome those from further across Greater Manchester who possess the skills and knowledge needed to make a meaningful contribution to our Board. It is important that trustees fully understand what is expected of them in their role. This includes:

  • Attendance at full Board meetings (four per year) usually held
  • Membership of a subcommittee and attendance at related meetings,
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and conduct in line with the trust’s vision and values;
  • Participation in relevant training, in addition to Board meetings;
  • Participation in the Board’s skills audit and reviews of governance.

What difference will you make?

This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for our members. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity.
