Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are looking for a Trustee to join this new board overseeing distribution of funds to the global south to support organisations and individuals to gain education.

What will you be doing?

Learn For Life is a recently formed charity which supports individuals and small organisations in education. Our recipients are in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Zambia. We will have a turnover of about £200,000 a year, mostly from one generous donor.

Several of the organisations we support are schools for children with hearing loss. We are looking for a Trustee with education experience to support the board with its thinking and decision making around education for vulnerable children. You will have a key role in guiding our educational governance and policy support we provide for the organisations we support.

You will have skills and experience in education, education governance or management, preferably in the NGO/charity sector and / or with vulnerable children or children with different abilities. You will be passionate about supporting inequality and want to contribute to the improvement of the lives of those that the charity assists.

In addition, you will be involved in developing the strategic direction of the charity as it finds its feet over the next few years.

What are we looking for?

You will have experience as a teacher or in a leadership position in the education sector.

If you have experience working with people with hearing loss or other vulnerabilities, working in the third sector, working internationally with NGOs in the global south - any of these would be a real bonus,

What difference will you make?

You will be part of the team developing the charity, defining its direction and ensuring that we make the best use of the funding.

You will help us to make sure our thinking, decision making and support we provide for schools around the provision of education for vulnerable children is the best that it can be.

You will join a great team supporting those who are living with disadvantage and disability, enabling them to access education.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach. We will contact you and discuss the opportunity with you to make sure that the fit between you, the role and the organisation is good. It will be an informal process.
