Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

Trustee for a young person's charity with experience in Human Resources (e.g. Director). FOCUS brings together diverse groups of people to run innovative team-based projects that benefit the community.

What will you be doing?

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of FOCUS, ensuring that we fulfil our obligations: to meet our charitable aims and funders’ commitments such as achieving agreed outcomes. Trustees attend quarterly meetings and take on activities between meetings. They are also encouraged to visit our projects each year to remind them about what makes FOCUS so special. Meetings are usually in Leicester although remote attendance can sometimes be possible.

We are seeking to find a successor for a trustee with HR advisory experience when she retires.

What are we looking for?

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees with a wide range of skills. Due to the retirement of a trustee with Human Resources expertise, we seek a successor. We are looking for an experienced HR professional with HR leadership experience and knowledge. You will shape our people strategy, advise on employment legislation, support staff / volunteers and ensure that we remain a great place to work. If you’re looking for a rewarding way to use your skills, we would love to hear from you!

The ideal candidate will have an HR advisory background and may be accredited with an organisation such as the CIPD. Experience in the voluntary sector is preferable but not mandatory.

FOCUS warmly embraces the values of inclusion, equality and diversity. We welcome interest from all sections of the community, regardless of background. Most importantly, we seek applications from people who desire to play a small but important part in this life-changing organisation.

What difference will you make?

Since its creation in 1988, FOCUS has worked with over 21,000 young people. Over 4500 volunteers have helped run our programmes. Today, FOCUS is one of the leading youth organisations in the East Midlands.

We believe passionately in the power of our projects to bring about lasting change in people’s lives by running projects that enhance their skills, confidence and aspirations. This passion is shared by staff, volunteers and participants. It is the job of the Board of Trustees to harness the energy and talent of everybody involved and provide a guiding hand to the organisation as a whole.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be sent an information pack containing more details about FOCUS.
