We are looking for a trustee who has an HR background and can help RAY to ensure that its HR policies are up-to-date and fit for purpose.

What will you be doing?

Trustees have ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the charity, ensuring that RAY is solvent, well-run, complying with the law and the requirements of the Charity Commission, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it was set up.Trustees also each oversee the development of a particular area of responsibility in line with RAY's Strategic Plan.

We are looking for a trustee who has an HR background and can help RAY to ensure that its HR policies are up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Trustee meetings currently take place 8 times a year, during the evening. Half of these are online, and the remainder are in-person. Trustees are also invited to attend one of RAY's hub sessions from time to time.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with with HR skills/experience, to advise the Board and assist our CEO in managing the staff team.

What difference will you make?

RAY works with refugees and asylum seekers in York to make a difference in their lives. Last year RAY supported over 1,000 people, through a team of 10 staff (mostly part-time) and over 100 volunteers. The Trustee Board has responsibility for the strategy and direction of the charity, and a direct impact on the work RAY does. We know that our work makes a tangible difference, from our own monitoring systems and confirmed by a recent External Evaluation which commented on “..the effectiveness of this small, well-targeted and exceptionally well-delivered project”.
