Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Fundraising Lead to join our new Together With Kenya (UK) Board. It is a great time to join TWK, and the new exciting journey we are taking.

What will you be doing?

The person that we are seeking will be a volunteer Trustee on the board of TWK (UK) responsible leading the charity's efforts to bring in much-needed funding for our important projects.

This will involve working closely with other Board Members and a Fundraising sub-committee to:

  • Secure funding by approaching trusts, businesses or individuals.
  • Apply for available grants for specific projects.
  • Direct and monitor a paid fundraiser.
  • Work with volunteers and manage a fundraising sub-committee.
  • Create and deliver communication campaigns for donations including developing and managing web-based fundraising.
  • Organise events or other activities that aim to generate donations or more generally increase awareness of TWK aims and objectives.
  • Continue to encourage supporters to maintain their regular donations and inspire new supporters through relationship development with the Sponsorship Team.
  • Contribute to a quarterly newsletter.

Hours will vary (up to 10 hours per week) but are very flexible and will involve working from home in your own time. Board meetings are held fortnightly by Google Meet.

What are we looking for?

Essential Skills

  • Passion for charity work and the Vision of our charity.
  • Experience in sourcing and completing suitable grant applications
  • Ability to work in a charity environment with financial constraints
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to create and maintain relationships
  • Being creative to constantly find new ways to raise funds

Desirable Skills

  • Interest in or understanding of African and Maasai Culture.

What difference will you make?

The charity (formerly Osiligi Charity Projects) has already provided an excellent primary and secondary education to hundreds of disadvantaged Maasai children in Kenya, who would otherwise not receive this. We have recently expanded our objectives to also provide educational support, training and skills after secondary education, to help this community succeed and improve their lives.

Through the repair of nearly 3000 broken hand pumps across Kenya, the charity has also restored clean water to nearly 1 million people.

Your involvement will help TWK to continue and expand its great work, and positively impact the lives of so many disadvantaged Kenyan people.
