Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are seeking a Trustee with a strong background in creating and co-ordinating successful fundraising campaigns and events, to lead fundraising efforts for specific projects at our animal sanctuary.

What will you be doing?

This volunteer post is flexible and remote, and will see you assist this small charity in securing essential fundraising, major donors, and developing short and long-term partnerships. You will also meet regularly with other trustees over Zoom (or locally, if you live in Somerset). If you are an experienced strategic fundraising professional who is passionate about animal welfare, please apply now and make a meaningful impact as part of our volunteer trustee team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the sanctuary team to identify funding needs and set clear financial targets.
  • Lead and support fundraising campaigns targeting specific projects (e.g., animal care, facility improvements, etc.).
  • Develop, plan, and execute fundraising events and initiatives, both online and offline.
  • Engage with donors, sponsors, and potential partners to secure financial support.
  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals to secure funding from private foundations, government agencies, and other potential sources.
  • Monitor and report on campaign progress, ensuring transparency and effective stewardship of funds.
  • Provide strategic advice on long-term fundraising goals and donor engagement strategies.
  • Attend regular trustee meetings and contribute to overall governance.

What are we looking for?

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, particularly with grants applications, events and campaigns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to our sanctuary’s mission.
  • Strategy experience would also be desirable.

What difference will you make?

This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for rescue cats and dogs and find them new homes. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity. You will work alongside 4 other trustees (including animal welfare, HR and Health & Safety specialists).

Our Mission

To benefit and enhance the life of communities, individuals and animals by giving stray, abandoned, ill-treated, suffering or unwanted animals the best possible quality of life by providing expert and loving care, shelter and veterinary care and by working efficiently and effectively to find them suitable homes.

Before you apply

We would be very grateful if you could submit a covering letter/email along with your CV, via the Reach wesbsite.
