This trustee opportunity is a wonderful way to become involved in an exciting, radical visual arts organisation that is exploring mental illness, disability, discrimination and community support.
Since 2017, BGW has curated high quality, experimental contemporary art exhibitions within institutions across the UK, working with critically acclaimed artists such as Turner Prize winners Martin Creed and Gillian Wearing. BGW has also created opportunities for emerging artists to push their practice and for their work to seen by larger audiences.
BGW uses each project to develop connections and collaboration with other local mental health and art organisations, running creative workshops for communities, encouraging people to engage with art and creative projects as a way to better understand their own mental health.
As the organisation enters a period of growth, I am looking for trustee to join to advise on financial aspects, such as book keeping, fundraising, monitoring, making payments etc
This is a voluntary role, with aim to be accommodating to personal health and other work commitments.
As part of our organisation, you will enable us to grow and expand, learn from you to improve our knowledge of financial sustainability, improve our business rhetoric and shape our strategic direction.
Our vision encompasses the following:
Working out experimental ways to support people through their management of mental ill health by engaging with artistic adventure.
Curating progressive visual art exhibitions depicting experiences of mental health illness that push the boundaries of artistic communication and expression.
We hope that by collaborating with a person with skills in finance / business, we can push ourselves and grow together.
