Raphael Centre aims to enable people with learning disabilities to live the lives they want. We are looking for new members to join our small trustee team to help ensure the charity continues to have maximum impact.
Much of the Board's work is ongoing. We want to safeguard the special person-centred and holistic nature of Raphael Centre and the multiple activities and opportunities on offer to the tenants such as pottery (Raphael Centre has its own kiln), city and country walks, bushcraft (in the garden and woods), riding with the disabled, horticultural therapy, counselling, art groups, dance and movement therapies, yoga and piano lessons. We also encourage tenants to be part of the local community which includes work in the local charity shop. This is challenging in the current financial environment, but we feel it is crucial to safeguard the ability for people to live full lives. We also want to expand our work and develop outreach to people with learning disabilities living in the community, as well as enabling more people to use our facilities such as the pottery. We have an excellent staff team and think we have a lot to offer a wider group of people with learning disabilities. We are looking for people who have a financial and/or business background to help us achieve our goals. Experience in property management would also be welcome. Raphael Centre is in a large Victorian house and this continues to throw up a number of challenges for us.
We are looking for people with financial/business experience and/or property management experience.
As part of our board you will be responsible for setting the strategy and policies of Raphael Centre and we work together to support the manager and staff. We are a small and friendly board and would really value some additional support on the financial, business and property management fronts.
Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit their CV. We will the contact you to discuss the role further.
