An exciting chance to play a key part in managing a well respected, established youth and community centre, shaping its role as a local hub and leading and developing activities for young people.
The trustee will work closely with our other volunteer Board members, currently eight in number and with a combined wealth of interests and experience from different sectors. The role the trustee will play will draw upon their skills and experience of working with children and young people e.g. supporting and advising staff and volunteers to deliver our range of activities, or suggesting new projects or helping to promote, trial and implement new projects. We would like to increase the Board to help us to govern more effectively; this includes the development of sub-committees where necessary e.g. finance, building development, HR, fundraising. The trustee may be asked to utilise his / her experience to lead one of these groups, once established, and contribute to others. Mostly local to the area, the trustees are knowledgeable about the huge challenges faced by the local community and the important role played by our organisation and similar local 'hubs'. Now more business-like in its approach following changes in 2012, the organisation is now on a more secure financial footing, operating with renewed confidence, whilst generating income from a greater variety of sources to help plan ahead for a sustainable future.
You will make a difference to us in many ways. As the board is small, you are likely to make an immediate impact. Your personal and professional skills and experience will help to support and challenge us in our future development. Ideally, you will take a hands-on approach e.g. leading or supporting specific projects, helping out with fundraising and being an advocate for the organisation within the local community.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitable person to use their knowledge, skills and expertise to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families in an area of significant need. The role presents a great chance to work with an enthusiastic and friendly team of staff and volunteers which is committed to making a real difference to the lives of local people.
