Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

One in Four is seeking a new trustee with experience in organisational management roles. We offer specialised support for survivors of sexual abuse, domestic abuse, or violence in childhood or adulthood and raise awareness of these issues.

What will you be doing?

This past year has been one of both challenges and triumphs.

The demand for our services has grown, and we have risen to the occasion with expanded counselling programmes, outreach initiatives, and a continued commitment to raising awareness.

We have provided thousands of hours of trauma-informed therapy, helping survivors reclaim their lives and break the silence surrounding their experiences.

We have also strengthened our advocacy efforts, working with policymakers and communities to improve safeguarding measures and to challenge the stigma surrounding survivors.

This work is essential in creating a future where every survivor feels safe and supported and where prevention is prioritised.

Looking forward, our goals are ambitious. We plan to expand our services to reach even more survivors, to continue our advocacy for improved legal protections, and to work tirelessly to break the cycle of abuse.

But we cannot do this alone.

We seek a new trustee with experience in organisational management to support our growth and ensure sustainability.

What are we looking for?

The Board is responsible for the organisation's strategic direction and accountability, as well as risk management, quality, and performance monitoring. Trustees are expected to challenge and contribute to the organisation’s development and ensure that financial controls and governance systems are robust, transparent, and compliant with regulation.

We are specifically seeking a trustee with experience in organisational management.

We are looking for someone who shares our core values and

  • Can demonstrate passion for and belief in the work that we do.
  • Has a strong understanding of governance and compliance structures.
  • Has experience navigating change and transformation.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has a proven ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships.
  • Is committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity at all levels.
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time and commitment
  • Strategic vision
  • Good, independent judgement

What difference will you make?

As a One in Four Trustee, you will have a brilliant opportunity to bring your skills and passion to a charity that is celebrating 25 years of supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our services, contributing to our strategic development. Your insights will help define how we expand our therapeutic support, and raise awareness.

As a Trustee, you’ll work closely with an inspiring and dedicated team. By helping guide a charity that directly impacts people's lives, you'll see firsthand the powerful difference your experience and contributions make. Additionally, you’ll expand your network and be part of key decision-making processes that ensure the voices of survivors are heard and respected.
