Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We need your help to take the next step in our Capital Fundraising Campaign. In a few months time we will need to start the Crowdfunding part of our strategy. Can you help us ?

What will you be doing?

We are a small charity currently based in Surrey. We provide outdoor learning for children and young people who have either have no school place or at risk of school exclusion. Working one to one with their keyworker, children learn animal care, cooking carpentry and horticulture on our 12 acre farm. The children and young people we support are aged 7-25 years and come from Surrey and Hampshire. All have complex social, emotional or behavioural needs. We currently provide a service to 29 children a week and have a waiting list for a space.

We have been looking for a new site for four years now and eventually, we have found our new home. Unfortunately it's in West Sussex, so a bit further away than we wanted but the parents say they can still get their children to us and staff are willing to commute so it's all systems go.

We are a year in to our Capital Fundraising Campaign and soon we will be starting the public phase. We already have legal, financial, education, fundraising, marketing and safeguarding expertise on the Board. What we really need help with now is improving our social media profile, starting a Crowdfunding process, getting press coverage and marketing our new services. Could you help share you skills with us and work as part of our Board to make our vision a reality?

Board meet every two months, usually online from 7pm-9pm. Sometimes we ask Trustees to join short term working groups to tackle specific issues but this is optional. We all bring our skills, knowledge and experience to share and are a stable group. We would really welcome one or two new members to help us achieve our ambitious goal.

What are we looking for?

We would really welcome someone with social media management skills. Perhaps you might bring skills and expertise in public relations or preparing press releases too.

We encourage enthusiastic applicants who are prepared to share their skills with us and help us learn and improve.

What difference will you make?

This is a crucial time for us. You will help us grow the numbers of children and young people with special needs we can support. You will be part of an organisation that develops new services to meet emerging needs and unmet needs for children and young people in our new community. We make a difference to children's lives and you could be part of that.

Before you apply

On receipt of your expression of interest, we will set up a meeting between you and the Chair of the Board so you can fund out more about the role and the Board. An application form is only used after we have agreed to yuo starting in post.
