The Museum of Dartmoor Life is seeking trustees who have vision and enthusiasm, combined with a love of Dartmoor to help with our exciting transformation to a dynamic museum that is relevant to the future.  

What will you be doing?

Our vision is for the Museum of Dartmoor Life to be the primary gateway to exploring Dartmoor, its history and people.     

Our mission is to collects, conserves and interprets artefacts and stories relating to Dartmoor, its history and people.  We engage with visitors and the local community to inspire diverse audiences and future generations to love and protect the Moor and its heritage.​

​We are looking for trustees that can help us deliver this exciting new vision and transformation from a rural museum in Okehampton to one which is the primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.    

In particular we are looking for a trustee that can take the lead on our developing our digital objectives including

  • E2 - Engaging with people beyond traditional physical constraints (Non-physical engagement) -such as by establishing ‘wild’ interaction sites on defined Moor locations
  • E5 Visitor experience – developing and maintaining a digital engagement plan that supports a progressive and changing interpretation plan.

The trustee will also provide advice and guidance on digital tools such as ongoing development and maintenance of the website, management tools and networks.  The Trustee will be also be responsible developing the Digital Strategy, setting and managing the digital budget and reporting progress at the Trustee meetings.

What difference will you make?

This role will be instrumental in enabling the museum to move into the 21st Century, to make use of technology to improve interpretation and the overall visitor experience.  It will also support our goal of reaching beyond the physical constraints of the museum through digital engagement onto the Moor itself.
