Wanted - trustee with vision for Oxfordshire charity supporting disabled people
This is a chance to get involved in the management and planning of a small but significant charity in Oxfordshire.
This role will have a specific remit around the marketing and communications of our charity, Enrych Oxfordshire, as well as the general running of the charity.
Like many small charities, Enrych Oxfordshire is well-known and respected by people who know us, but is ‘below the radar’ to the general population. We want to raise our profile in the area, using social media, media and advertising.
We support people with disabilities through active engagement with volunteers and social opportunities to enable people ‘to connect, to engage and to enjoy life in the communities’. Explaining what we do concisely can be hard – we do so much! So we’re keen to have trustees with communication skills who enjoy using words and pictures to tell our story.
Obviously, finance is a key area for all charities in this challenging economic climate. Enrych Oxfordshire has a good track record of attracting trust and community funding, but we need to keep telling our story and letting people know about the great work we are doing if we are to ensure our sustainability
The priorities of the board are to enable the support we offer to disabled people to grow and develop throughout Oxfordshire
Our current board has 5 trustees and one advisory post. It includes professionals in social care, Enrych members and volunteers and others with key management and finance skills.

Our ideal trustee will be forward-looking, person-centred and enjoy making strategic decisions. They will care about the needs and aspirations of people with disabilities in Oxfordshire and be committed to improving the quality of life for disabled people. In addition, they will:
- Provide vision and leadership
- Think strategically, considering the future challenges and opportunities (range of activities, programmes and any campaigns)
- Play an active role in major decision making
- Promote the success of Enrych for the benefit of its members
- Exercise independent judgment
- Work to ensure the financial stability of the branch
- Work effectively in the team
- Review the performance of Enrych Oxfordshire and contribute to its improvement
- Time to fulfil the duties of the role
- Willingness to speak their mind
Specifically for the role in copywriting/design (marketing and communications) they will:
- Have excellent written and/or graphic design skills
- Love communicating and have skills in copywriting, design and/or marketing and communications
- Have a desire to raise the profile of Enrych through a variety of media platforms (low and hi tech, from newsletter and leaflets to social media and local radio/TV)

We want fresh ideas and new eyes to ensure we are developing effectively in a changing environment, and adapting to the needs of disabled people as they change according to the changing social care environment.
We are a small, independent charity, under the umbrella of Enrych National. This means we have the support of a larger organisation behind us, but can quickly make our own decisions and strategies.
We are a committed team who engage closely with our support workers.
This role will have an immediate impact on the many disabled people and their families we support - as it will help us be fit for the future.

We are big enough that we share responsibilities across the board, and have support from our umbrella body, Enrych National
It is not particularly time-heavy. We meet every other month or so as a board, but there is plenty to do.
We have regular social events for the people we support (our members) and there are lots of opportunities to get involved there too. It’s great to meet the people we are supporting and hear the difference Enrych is making to their lives.
Mostly during office hours
Board meetings are every 1 or 2 months, for 1-2 hours We provide you with an Enrych email - there may be some email correspondance between meetings.
