An independent supported-living home for the elderly, sitting within the Abbeyfield umbrella, Austenmead has a vacancy for a trustee to join the Executive Committee, which leads the direction of this not-for-profit home.

What will you be doing?

Applicants with any skills will be considered, including but not limited to finance, IT, legal, property maintenance, marketing etc. Meetings of the Executive Committee are held every six weeks and some time is required in between, depending on the matters arising in the home.  The home has two administrators and two House Managers that support the Executive Committee and see to the day to day running of the home. An interest in and knowledge of the local community and elderly welfare would be an advantage.

What are we looking for?

The ideal applicant will be able to give the minimum of a few hours a month up to a maximum of a few hours a week, depending on where their area of expertise lies.

What difference will you make?

The home has sufficient trustees, however, succession planning for the future, plus gaining different perspectives on future direction are sought after.

What's in it for the volunteer?

The trustees gain a great deal of satisfaction in seeing the immediate effect their actions have on both the staff and residents of the home, which is relatively unique in the elderly accommodation setting.
