We develop a growth mindset in young people so they can overcome barriers and take their first steps towards an Iconic career. We are looking for a new chair as we go into this new season and expand our reach

What will you be doing?

Key areas of expertise required:

  • To lead the Board, Chair Board meetings and manage the role of the Board so it functions effectively
  • To support the CEO in strategy & decision making to ensure the purposes of the social enterprise  are being met. 
  • To oversee the financial direction of the social enterprise  to ensure resources are being used responsibly
  • To ensure good governance is embedded in the organisation

The Chair will be expected to commit to the following:

  • Lead Board meetings to review and monitor finances, assess previous activities and help shape future plans 
  • Monitor, review and where required adapt the ongoing functioning of the board in response to best practice/legislative changes (including ensuring a diverse and effective board composition)
  • Maintain regular contact with the CEO ensuring you are up-to-date with ongoing Board & company activities & communicate relevant information to the Board and others in between meetings
  • With the support of the Board annually review and appraise the CEO performance
  • Take part in relevant Board sub-committees to help develop strategy in specific areas of the business
  • Be a positive advocate for the charity and business at all times, including attending key Iconic Steps events as a VIP
  • Draw on your networks to support and expand Iconic Steps reach/network

 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced leader, with a relevant background for example, as a charity trustee, board member of community interest company, other social enterprise or business serving a particular community.  You should have excellent leadership qualities to step into the role of Chair, developing the Board and supporting the capacity of a small team doing big things, as it moves into the next stage of development.

You will be committed to making a difference by drawing on your professional aptitudes and personal qualities to support the leadership team in achieving our ambitions.
