Seeking a hands-on trustee who is passionate about supporting community health and wellbeing through innovative approaches with financial management and accounting experience.
The Buckinghamshire Community Wellbeing Hub begun as a joint initiative between Buckinghamshire New University and Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy, and is now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation serving Buckinghamshire, with physical hubs based in Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
The current board is small and very hands-on, with a wide range of skills and experience. The organisation is also supported by a range of volunteers and partners who work with the board as a team to ensure the charity successfully achieves its aims and objectives.
We are keen to add to our collective expertise and are currently looking for a Treasurer. This is an exciting time of growth and development as our small but ambitious and impactful initiative has just launched as a charity. Our current challenge is to ensure we have good financial governance through robust financial policies and procedures. We are seeking someone with the experience to be able to advise the charity in its first year.
All of our trustees are passionate about meeting the growing demand to improve the health and wellbeing of our local communities, through providing bespoke support groups and services, and growing and supporting the professional and voluntary workforce as partners in this endeavour.
We are keen to add to our collective expertise and are currently looking for a Treasurer, and in addition to the normal trustee contribution, our requirements are as follows:
Treasurer responsibilities
What are we looking for?
Our ideal trustee is keen to work as part of a team to develop the organisation and has at least three years’ accounting and financial management experience. Our ideal trustee believes the power of collaboration between health, social care and VCSE sector professionals, the community and students as future professionals. Our ideal trustee will have accounting experience, preferably using online tools (e.g. Xero), will have experience setting and monitoring annual budgets and will be able to advise on financial policies and procedures. We do not require someone with previous experience as a charity trustee, we are happy to provide training; mostly we’re looking for someone with relevant experience and a willingness to learn, grow and work with the organisation.
By working with the current board to advise and oversee financial growth, the organisation can ensure its services are sustainable, and that the growing demand for community-based support and non-traditional learning environments is met. The treasurer will play a key role, working alongside the Hub Manager, to ensure the organisation is financially stable and able to continue to offer a plethora of services to the local community and a stable learning environment to students, and can grow in a sustainable way to ensure the longevity of the Hub/s.
