We are seeking a treasurer to join the board of HSBSG, the charity that offers free, confidential and practical support to parents who are going through a challenging time and have at least one child under five.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer treasurer you will bring a certain level of experience and know-how to the role to ensure the financial success of the organization. You will work with the CE and Chair to develop a budget and monitor and evaluate financial progress.

As treasurer your overall role will be to:

  • Maintain an overview of HSBSG’s financial affairs,
  • Ensure its financial viability,
  • Ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained,
  • Ensure that staff are paid.

In addition, we expect trustees to attend a bi-monthly board meeting; that’s three a year on Wednesday evenings 6.30-9pm and three on Thursday mornings 9.30am-12 noon. If trustees cannot attend in person, they can attend remotely. In between board meetings you will need to respond to emails and read papers, undertake training and attend another one or two other meetings.

The time commitment is approximately 4 days per month in addition to 6-8 hrs/month general trustee work.

What are we looking for?

The treasurer will ensure that HSBSG, with regard to matters of a financial nature, complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

You can apply your existing skills and experience, giving back what you have learned along the way. For your own personal and career development, you can grow your experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector with training and the support of experienced board members. Our aim is that together we proactively encourage inclusion and equality through policies and service design, fair staff management and sustainable finances. We encourage you to apply if you are keen to …
