Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Sunningdale Village Hall is a charity and a small business. We are looking for someone with a background in accounting,  an interest in being a Trustee, and the desire to help Sunningdale Village Hall thrive for many years to come.

What will you be doing?

The charity is managed by a Board of 6 Trustees, and meets on a monthly basis.  Sunningdale Village Hall is both a charity and a small business, providing rooms for hire to the local community. The Large Hall is home to diverse activities including yoga, pilates, football for under 5’s, puppy-training, children’s parties, Parkinson's Group meetings and exercise classes, the After School Club for the local school – and the Small Hall has been home to Sunningdale Pre-School during term time since 1969. The Hall provides a valuable service to the whole community and the key objective is to keep hiring rates as low as possible to enable the whole community to continue to use the space for education, recreation, and fun.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The key task is to ensure that the charity continues to operate in a sound financial manner.

To deliver this the Treasurer/Trustee will do the following:

  • Provide oversight of the charity finances including the preparation of the annual report and year-end      accounts and the annual budget forecast in liaison with the charity accountants.
  • Present the monthly management account reports, which are produced by the charity accountants, to the Board.
  • Advise the Board on all financial matters ad take the lead on financial planning.
  • Provide oversight of grant funding bids produced by charity employees.
  • Be the administrator for the Charity Commission account.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a strong background in accounting and financial management, good critical faculties, team-working, and experience in general management would be a bonus.

What difference will you make?

The role of Treasurer is really important to us -  we need someone to keep us on track financially, help us plan realistically for the future,  and continue to rise effectively to all the challenges that running a 100-year old Village Hall presents.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance to arrange an informal chat with the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
