We are looking for two trustees to make a hands-on contribution to the governance and future of Uttlesford Foodbank.
The Trustees meet every 2 - 3 months and in between there will be a requirement to engage in the needs of the Foodbank & support the management team when asked. We have grown a lot since becoming an independent charity in 2017 and as such the demands on our resources have grown. We now have a member of staff provided by a grant which will need reviewing within the next 6 months. We will also be seeking a grant for new premises within the next 3 years. We have been fortunate enough to have been donated surplus funds during COVID and are looking for Trustees who can best advise us on the use of those funds.
We also welcome applications from those with experience of running a charity, managing volunteers or wishing to learn about the requirements of charity governance.
We especially welcome applicants from those with lived experience of the issues our service users experience themselves.
Experience of managing volunteers or working in the charitable sector in a senior role.
We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of bid writing or who is able to manage volunteers writing bids.
Good local contacts in Uttlesford especially in either Great Dunmow or Stansted would be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of the issues surrounding food poverty
Two trustees with a range of skills will enable us to ensure the best practice in governance for the Foodbank which in turn ensures that donations are spent appropriately and resources directed to the clients as much as possible. An effective trustee boards also enables the staff and volunteers to carry out their roles to the best of their abilities.
We are a fantastic organisation with a really dedicated volunteer base. There is an immense amount of knowledge among us and as we are small any skills you are able to bring to the role will be utilised as much as possible. There is also the opportunity to receive training in relevant areas so you are also able to increase your own skill set. We are a very likeable team with a good profile in local communities so the role also gives a trustee the opportunity to widen their local networks.
