Either in or out of office hours Board meetings take place at our offices in Brixton after 5pm but some work can be carried out remotely by telephone and email.

Our mission is to improve carers’ lives in Lambeth through quality services and community engagement. Give us a boost with your skills as we start our second year!

What will you be doing?

Offering your skills and a couple of hours of your time each month will give our fledgling organisation the boost it needs as we move into our second year of operation.

Carers Hub Lambeth is an independent local charity based in Brixton.   Up until June 2018, we were  a service run by a much larger charity, which has since closed down.   We took the opportunity to set up on our own and have had a busy year building our new organisation.

Our mission is to improve carers’ lives in Lambeth through quality services and community engagement.   We achieve this through four core workstreams: raising awareness of carers, influencing local policy through community engagement activities, improving carer wellbeing and connecting carers to each other and to support and training opportunities through our services.

Caring for a loved one, family member, friend or neighbour, can have a significant impact on all aspects a carer’s own life. Our dedicated and passionate team work with carers to help overcome challenges around managing at home, finances, caring with confidence, education and employment, physical health and emotional wellbeing.

We would now like to increase the size of our Board and would like to hear from you if you have a couple of hours free each month to offer your expertise.   We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have skills in the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Digital
  • Comms/marketing
  • Senior management experience in a charity
  • Strategic planning
  • Previous experience as a trustee

Meetings take place at our offices in Brixton approximately once every two - three months.  They currently run from 5:30pm until 7pm.  It is hoped that you will be able to contribute your time to help develop pieces of work outside of meetings depending on your skill set and availability.

As we are a newly established organisation, you will be able help us shape Carers' Hub and make a significant impact.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people who would like to make a positive difference to a small charity committed to improving lives for carers in the London Borough of Lambeth.  As we are building our new Board we are looking for a wide range of skills and experience, the most important thing is that you have the time and commitment.

What difference will you make?

We established our existing Board June/July 2018 and we currently have 3 trustees who supported Carers' Hub through the initial set up phase such as registering with Companies House and Charity Commission and other practical steps such as opening a bank account.  With so much still in the early phases of development, there are so many ways that you will be able to make a difference whether might  bringing your experience in finance to support the development of robust policies and procedures, supporting our fundraising efforts or bringing your knowledge of trustee roles and responsibilities to ensure we are operating as we should.   We are currently developing our strategic plan which will shape the organisation over the next few years.   You will be helping to ensure that Carers' Hub becomes a sustainable, well-run organisation ensuring all carers in Lambeth can access support.

What's in it for the volunteer?

We are a small, friendly bunch with lots to do!  You will learn what is involved in setting up a new organisation, have the chance to help set up new processes and know that your knowledge and expertise really will make a genuine difference.
