WaterHarvest is a small but growing charity focused on water-harvesting in rural India. For over 30 years we have helped marginalised people through community led solutions such as underground family water tanks and irrigation systems.
We are now looking for trustees to join our board and to help shape our vision for the next 30 years. We aren’t looking for specific experience or skill sets. The most important thing is time, energy and interest in international development. We are committed to a culture of openness, integrity and professionalism.
A trustee would be expected to attend one board meeting and one committee meeting a quarter and also be available at short notice for discussions (via phone if needed). Meetings are held around 10am weekdays in Winchester.
Although experience in either finance, income generation or digital communications would be great, the most important thing is time, energy and interest in international development.
Having worked in rural India for over 30 years, we are now shaping our vision for the future of the charity. We are a small, but growing charity, working in a changing environment with the challenges that brings.
As a small charity, both staff and trustees work very closely. We work in rural India and trustees of the charity often visit the projects to see first hand the real difference made from simple rain water harvesting techniques. Our work provides more and better water, relieves poverty and improves livelihoods. As a result of our work people learn new skills and children are able to attend school. Our work enables people to break free from poverty and achieve lasting changes in their lives.
