Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Feeding the Family is an innovative and loving response to a need we saw for the lonely and vulnerable in the local community of Basildon. By showing love to the lonely and vulnerable in a tangible and practical way.

What will you be doing?

Loneliness is a normal human emotion experienced by us all through different life events. For those that have good support networks around them, a hug, a text, a coffee can be enough to breakthrough the lies that say you are alone and it will pass, but sadly for many in Basildon who are socially isolated they need our practical help and support to find a way out of loneliness.

As a Trustee, you’ll work alongside a small, committed team to shape strategy, ensure financial stability, and safeguard our values, ensuring that every decision supports our mission to bring people out of isolation. Join us in building a community where no one feels alone.

Person specification

  • A passion for building community
  • Good judgement and strategic thinking
  • A willingness to speak your mind and consider different perspectives
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

Keeping the charity focused on its purpose - Making sure everything we do aligns with our mission of tackling loneliness in Basildon through food and community.

Following the rules - Ensuring we stick to our governing document, charity laws, and any other important regulations.

Using resources wisely - Making sure our funds and resources are spent in a way that directly benefits those we support.

Setting goals and measuring progress - Helping define what success looks like and checking that were on track.

Protecting our reputation and values - Representing the charity in a positive way and ensuring we uphold our mission and ethos.

Helping things run smoothly - Ensuring we have the right policies and procedures in place to operate effectively.

Looking after finances - Keeping an eye on our financial health to ensure the charity remains sustainable.
