Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Crossings Community Group is a small charity based in Tyneside using music to work with refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and local people. We are looking for a trustee to join our board and help us continue our unique work in this area.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for someone with management experience, preferably of working in the charity sector.  We provide free weekly drop-in sessions with experienced tutors where people can learn to play an instrument or join in our singing sessions.   These activities take place in a relaxed, safe and welcoming environment which helps promote the well-being of those participating. You should be able to attend at least a few times a year in order to fully understand how we operate.  Fundraising is vital as it is our main source of income, so any expertise in that area is particularly welcome, as are social media and recruitment skills.

The board meets, on average, about eight times a year, and meetings last about two hours.  The secretary role is vacant at present so if you are interested in taking on that role we'd love to hear from you.

What are we looking for?

Management experience, preferably in the charity sector

What difference will you make?

You will have the satisfaction of contributing to, and influencing, how the organisation delivers the support, hopefully leading to integration into the local community, that we offer to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.  Following the recent violent unrest which has erupted in the country this is a very important issue, not just for the North East, but for the whole of our society.
