What will you be doing?

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising and Grant Applications: Play a key role in securing funding through grant applications, individual donor campaigns, and potential corporate partnerships.
  • Event Organization: Contribute to planning and organizing fundraising events that raise awareness and generate financial support for EPSEP's projects.
  • Campaign Development and Advocacy: Help develop and implement impactful campaigns to raise public awareness of the importance of pre-school education in Ethiopia.
  • Governance and Committee Work: Participate actively in board meetings, contributing to strategic decision-making and ensuring strong organizational governance.
  • Minute Taking and Record Keeping: Accurately record and maintain minutes of Board meetings and other relevant committee meetings.
  • Financial Oversight: Provide financial oversight, ensuring sound financial management practices are upheld.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Passionate about education and social justice.
  • Strong fundraising, grant writing, and campaign development skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in event planning and community engagement a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

EPSEP, a registered charity working to improve access to quality pre-school education in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Board of Trustees.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of skills and experience:

  • Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of success in securing funding through grant applications, individual donor campaigns, and potential corporate partnerships.
  • Grant Writing Prowess: The ability to craft compelling grant proposals that effectively communicate EPSEP's mission and impact.
  • Event Planning Savvy: Experience in planning and organizing fundraising events that raise awareness and generate financial support for EPSEP's projects.
  • Campaigning Champion: A passion for developing and implementing impactful campaigns that raise public awareness of the importance of pre-school education in Ethiopia.
  • Governance & Teamwork: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to participate actively in board meetings, contribute to strategic decision-making, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Record-Keeping Meticulousness: Experience in accurately recording and maintaining minutes of Board meetings and other relevant committee meetings.
  • Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of financial best practices and a commitment to ensuring sound financial management for EPSEP.

Beyond these qualifications, we seek a candidate with:

  • A genuine passion for education and social justice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to think strategically and contribute to the long-term vision of EPSEP.
  • Knowledge of Ethiopian people and culture and Amharic language is a plus.
