Trustees meet 4 times a year, plus the Annual General Meeting. These last about 2 hours. Plus time to read papers and and email discussions.

Yellow Door works with disadvantaged young people offering advice, information, support, and activities. We are looking for a Trustees to help us develop and thrive.

 

What will you be doing?

As part of our board of Trustees you will be at the heart of our charity. You will set our direction and have oversight of what we do in terms of strategy, scrutiny, and support. Our Board of Trustees meet 4 time a year, plus our Annual General Meeting. They also offer support and advice to the Manager between meetings when required.

What are we looking for?

Anyone of a range of skills or knowledge would help our work this would include; Business, Marketing, Digital, HR, Management or sector skills and knowledge such as youth or community work. 

In general Trustees should also;

  • Be committed to the purpose, objects and values of Canvey Island Youth Project (Yellow Door).
  • Be constructive about other trustees’ opinions in discussions, and in response to staff members’ contributions at meetings.
  • Be able to act reasonably and responsibly when undertaking such duties and performing tasks.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality on sensitive and confidential information.
  • Be supportive of the values (and ethics) of Canvey Island Youth Project (Yellow Doo).
  • Understand the importance and purpose of meetings, and be committed to preparing for them adequately and attending them regularly.
  • Be able to analyse information and, when necessary, challenge constructively.
  • Be able to make collective decisions and stand by them.
  • Be able to respect boundaries between executive (staff or day to day) and governance function.
