The role

Southwark Travellers' Action Group (STAG) became a legally independent organisation in 2016 after many years in existence as a project of other organisations.  This is an exciting time for us; we have a new three year strategy, and are in a period of growth and development.  We are looking for trustees who would like to join an exciting organisation at this time of change.

Up until now we have been working with a small board of trustees going through the process of establishing as an independent organisation.  We are lucky to have a core group of 3 trustees, all belonging to our local voluntary sector, who have particular skills around law and finance.  At this stage we are very keen to diversify the board both to increase the range of knowledge and skills and to represent the community that we work with.

Person description

We are looking for trustees who are committed to our aims and values as an organisation and who can bring commitment and skill.  Because we have a small board at present, we realise there are lots of skill areas that we could benefit from in a trustee such as organisational development experience, knowledge of planning processes, fundraising, marketing experience or an HR background.  However, most important is passion and commitment and we are keen to hear from anyone who feels they would have something to offer!

What impact the opportunity will have

This will help to make our new organisation more sustainable and effective in its work.  We have gained a great deal of stability since becoming an independent organisation and we want to build on this work to go from strength to strength.

Time commitment

Either in or out of office hours

Board meetings are every two months and communications take place in between by email.
