Do you want to change a young person's life? FOCUS charity provides inspirational projects for young people and seeks Treasurer applications from people who desire to play an important part in this life-changing organisation.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of FOCUS, ensuring that the charity fulfils its obligations legally and ethically. These obligations are to meet our charitable aims and funders’ commitments (e.g. meeting agreed outcomes by working with target numbers of young people).
Trustees attend quarterly Board meetings and may take on activities between meetings, depending on your skills / experience. Trustees are also encouraged to visit one of our projects each year to remind them about what makes FOCUS so special.
- Accountancy (part qualified)
- Financial management
- Fundraising strategy
Further to our Treasurer retiring in March 2018, we are looking for someone with financial management, fundraising or accounting expertise. Holding a relevant financial qualification is highly desirable. Like any charity, our funding situation is not without its challenges and the successful candidate should be prepared to advise on appropriate strategies to ensure continuity of funds.
If you might be interested, we would like to hear from you. FOCUS is fully committed to the values of inclusion, equality and diversity. We welcome interest from all sections of the community, regardless of background. Most importantly, we seek applications from people who desire to play a small but important part in this life-changing organisation.
What impact the opportunity will have
It is the job of the Board of Trustees to harness the energy and talent of everybody involved and provide a guiding hand to the organisation as a whole. The Board is recruiting a new Treasurer to maintain the right breadth of skills on FOCUS’s Board.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
An opportunity to share expertise and help an organisation that provides critical support to vulnerable young people - a very influential time in our lives.
Mostly outside office hours
Quarterly board meetings and advance preparation of Treasurer's report. Occasional interim conference calls. Commitment to respond / review by e-mail.
