We are a well established walk-in centre in Plymouth for asylum seekers and refugees who are mainly sent here by the Home Office. Staff are working remotely during Covid.
We have trustee meetings monthly (10 p.a.) and would find a regular ( bi-monthly?) financial report helpful. We could hold a finance committee meeting beforehand or at another time. We have an excellent Finance Administrator who keeps us up to date with financial details and two other trustees who work on finance and fund raising. We are 100% self funded.
New ideas for fund raising including Crowd funding would be welcome.
Preparation of management accounts would be open for discussion between Treasurer and Finance officer but what and how would be for the Treasurer to decide.
Our annual income varies between 110 AND 300k.
We need someone sympathetic to our aims with the necessary skills in accountancy and finance to support the organisation as Trustee/Treasurer. Our current income/expenditure is £175,000 approx.
With the variety of our provision, central to which is providing case workers to support our Service Users(SUs) with their application for refugee status, the impact of any trustee is considerable.
Certainly we provide a life line to our SUs (they tell us) and anyone becoming a trustee can feel they are providing a vital service and contributing to a key organisation. The trustees are a committed and friendly and will welcome anyone working with us.
