We hold 9 trustee meetings each year of which 7 are remote and 2 are in person. Meetings are usually on Tuesday evenings for 90 minutes 6.45-8.15pm.

Our Camden charity is a gateway to the waterways.  We've been flying the flag for opportunity and adventure on the Regent's Canal for over 55 years.  We tackle disadvantage in our community through kayaking and canal boating.

What will you be doing?

We are recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees from early spring 2024.  The ideal candidate should have a strong background in financial analysis or accounting, ideally with professional accountancy qualifications.   Previous experience in a Treasurer role would be advantageous.  The responsibilities are:

1.  working with our employed General Manager, the contracted bookkeeper and the Chair of the Board to monitor and oversee the Charity's finances, including reporting to trustees; and

2. managing the preparation of our annual accounts, working with the bookkeeper and our retained external accountancy firm to prepare, finalise and file our statutory accounts.

The Charity is in a sound financial position currently.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a finance professional, ideally a qualified accountant.

What difference will you make?

As the Treasurer you will be involved in the strategic management of our longstanding local Charity, alongside providing support and guidance to our General Manager when needed.  We are looking for someone with a passion for tackling disadvantage, perhaps with an interest in water sports or in our vibrant Borough of Camden.  But above all, someone who is willing to contribute energy, ideas and their financial expertise.

Before you apply

Please explain why you are interested in the role and your relevant experience.   We will then arrange a coffee (can be virtual) with the Chair for promising candidates, followed by an interview with two trustees.
