Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Provide integral support to the financial competence of our small charity, including strategic input on our financial planning and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations, working closely with the BCoS Manager and Board of Trustees.

What will you be doing?

What will you be doing?

  • Informing the financial strategy of the organisation
  • Providing strategic input on our financial planning
  • Advising the Board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
  • Preparation of financial reports for each Board meeting
  • Preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts for submission to the Charity Commission
  • Collaboration with the Manager and Board to prepare the annual budget
  • Monthly payments of salaries and tax utilising the accountant’s calculations
  • Oversight of the BCoS bank account
  • Virtual / in-person attendance at Board meetings every three months

  1. A strong interest in the issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers and/or lived experience of seeking sanctuary
  2. Experience of budgeting, financial management and compliance
  3. An ability to present financial information clearly and simply to trustees
  4. Keen analytical and forecasting skills
  5. Understanding of the political context and funding environment in which BCoS is working
