We’re looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and play a vital role in guiding the financial health and sustainability of neurobetter.
We’re looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and play a vital role in guiding the financial health and sustainability of neurobetter - a new, neuro-affirming charity supporting people with neurodivergence and mental health challenges.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone with financial expertise who also believes deeply in social justice, inclusion, and community-led change. As Treasurer, you’ll help shape our financial strategy, provide oversight of our budgeting and risk management processes, and ensure that our financial systems support our mission and values.
You’ll collaborate closely with our CEO and external accountants, supporting the preparation of our annual accounts and helping to present financial reports in a clear and accessible way for fellow trustees.
This is a unique opportunity to help build a finance function that’s ethical, transparent, and empowering - not just technically sound, but truly aligned with our values. You'll also support neurobetter’s broader development, contributing to governance, strategic planning, and partnership building.
We welcome applications from people with a range of financial backgrounds - charity finance, accountancy, investment, social enterprise - and particularly encourage those with lived or personal experience of neurodivergence or mental health challenges. Neurobetter is a neuro-affirming charity and many of our Trustees, staff members and volunteers represent the whole spectrum of neurodiversity.
If you’re values-driven, financially savvy, and excited about helping a new charity thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
Our Treasurer brings strong financial expertise - whether from charity finance, accountancy, or another relevant field - combined with a clear commitment to equity, integrity, and inclusive leadership.
They know how to balance strategy and detail: thinking big while ensuring that systems and reports are robust, transparent, and understandable. They’re not just good with numbers, they’re great at explaining them. They help others feel confident and included in financial conversations.
They also bring a deep belief in our mission. Whether through professional insight or lived experience, they understand the barriers neurodivergent people with mental health challenges face - and they are passionate about building a charity that meets those challenges with compassion and purpose.
Importantly, they share our values. They are collaborative, patient, and supportive - helping shape financial systems that are not just compliant, but ethical and aligned with neurobetter’s neuro-affirming ethos. They see finance as a tool for empowerment and change.
As Treasurer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that neurobetter’s finances are not just secure, but actively support its mission and growth. Your guidance will ensure that we manage risk wisely, allocate resources fairly, and make confident, informed decisions about our future.
You’ll help build trust with funders and stakeholders by ensuring financial transparency and compliance. Internally, you’ll help demystify finance for the rest of the Board - ensuring that financial oversight is a shared, accessible responsibility.
Your work will help us remain resilient, responsive, and rooted in our values - even as we grow. In doing so, you’ll make it possible for neurobetter to deliver more support, reach more people, and advocate more powerfully for a society that recognises and values neurodivergent lives.
