Knaresborough CLT is a registered Community Benefit Society, the purpose of which is to provide affordable housing to local people.  At an exciting phase in our development, we seek an enthusiastic Treasurer to join our Board.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking an experienced accountant to take up the role of Treasurer for the Knaresborough Community Land Trust (CLT), established in 2018. Knaresborough CLT was set up to create community-owned affordable housing to benefit those living and/or working in Knaresborough. This is an exciting time for the CLT as we progress our membership drive and move towards the development of affordable homes, within the coming months.

The Treasurer is a member of the Board, which currently meets about eight times a year. Board members are all volunteers and, as a member-led Community Benefit Society, we are regulated by the FCA. This is an excellent opportunity to join the organisation and contribute to its strategic direction, as we near the start of our first building project. The Treasurer will take the lead on setting up the financial controls for the CLT and ensuring effective and timely reporting. The role will be rewarding and offer a challenge for someone wishing to be part of a ground-breaking initiative.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal Treasurer will have a number of years' experience in a similar role and be able to take the lead on setting up the financial controls and strategies required by our Community Benefit Society, and ensuring effective and timely reporting.

Any experience in public engagement, property development or fund-raising would also be useful.

What difference will you make?

The six current Board members of our Community Benefit Society are all volunteers with busy, full-time jobs – but none, unfortunately, from a financial background – so we need your assistance to guide the CLT through this important area and provide essential assistance in achieving our aim, to provide affordable homes to local people who need them.

What's in it for the volunteer?

We’re an enthusiastic, friendly team and our CLT is already one of the regional front-runners in the work we’re doing. Here we have the opportunity to be part of a (literally) ground-breaking initiative!
