Trustees attend regular meetings which are currently every two months, with an additional AGM in the Autumn.

Maybe you have experience of working with young people, charities or in finance or HR? Could you be our next Treasurer?

What will you be doing?

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Attend the HWYCA Trustees Meetings held every two months
  • Attend the AGM held in the Autumn
  • Maintaining a system of recording income and expenditure as a basis for production of statutory annual accounts
  • Preparation of annual budgets as a basis for monitoring of working results progress throughout the year
  • Producing financial reports and commentaries on a regular basis to inform the Board of Trustees on financial progress
  • Insuring satisfactory financial control arrangements are in place including procedures for authorisation of expenditure and setting appropriate levels of delegated authority
  • Ensuring that all processes are compliant with statutory obligations laid down by Companies House or the Charity commission.
  • Control arrangements for the recording and banking of cash
  • Control arrangements for use of petty cash for small dispersants
  • Production of forward financial plans as appropriate
  • Ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place for the payment of staff salaries and wages
  • Production of reports as necessary to inform Board of Trustees on the impact on the charity arising from changes in pay rates, supply contracts etc.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities taken on, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, whether or not directly part of financial management

Overall, we are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring Haxby and Wigginton have a variety of services and opportunities for local residents, and keen for our young people to have access to regular activities and resources.

Experience of working with young people, charities or in finance or HR would all be beneficial.

What difference will you make?

You will be directly supporting the charity in achieving our objectives, which are:

• To promote the benefit of all inhabitants of Haxby and Wigginton without any discrimination, by associating together with the local authorities and voluntary organisations, in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, for recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants and in particular for young people.

• To establish a community building (Oaken Grove Community Centre) and to manage and maintain it in good order in furtherance of these objects.

• To promote other charitable purposes for the furtherance of the above.
