What will you be doing?

Rotherham Rise is a registered charity that provides advice and support for adults and children who have experienced Domestic Violence and Abuse through the provision of refuge accommodation and community support services. We also provide support and access to counselling for people affected by Child Sexual Exploitation.

We are looking for a Treasurer (Board of Trustees); this is an unpaid, voluntary position. The treasurer is pivotal to our Board of Trustees in ensuring our organisation is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practices relating to charities and charitable income.

Formal board meetings are held in the early evenings every two months, with a separate meeting with the treasurer prior. Additional meetings, training, and events are held throughout the year. All trustees are expected to read papers ahead of meetings.

What are we looking for?

It is expected that the successful candidate will have significant knowledge and experience of financial accounting and reporting procedures. They should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in financial management and strategy;
  • Commercial awareness and analytical skills;
  • A sound understanding of the role Governance plays in an organisation;
  • An ability to assess and comment on an organisation’s control environment including risk management, internal controls and related assurance;
  • A good understanding of financial reporting covering Statutory Financial Statements and the selection of appropriate accounting policies and practices;
  • An understanding of the external and internal audit functions;
  • Independent judgement and an ability to challenge in a constructive manner;
  • An ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of a Board and other stakeholders
