We are looking to appoint two new trustees to the board of Forest CLT, an ambitious community land trust based in Waltham Forest with a mission to provide affordable, community-led housing for local people.

What will you be doing?

This is an exciting opportunity to work for Forest CLT, an energetic and ambitious community land trust, based in Waltham Forest. 

We are looking to recruit two new trustees to the board of trustees: a treasurer to replace our outgoing treasurer and a new finance lead to boost the financial experience and capacity we have at board level. 

The role

The role will be to oversee all financial aspects of Forest CLT, managing day-to-day finances and planning for the future including:

  • Liaising with accountants to prepare the end of year accounts
  • Setting up and administering financial systems to ensure Forest CLT stays financially healthy
  • Updating trustees on ingoing and outgoing payments at board meetings
  • Attending monthly board meetings (meetings are approximately 2 hours and will be in person or online)
  • Prepare for board meetings by reading the agenda and any documents needed ahead of time. Reviewing minutes after board meetings
  • Contributing around one day per month/ 8 hours a month in volunteer time 
  • We expect the financial trustee will work closely with our co-chairs, secretary and small volunteer 'finances team', as well as meeting the wider board monthly

What we are looking for

  • experience in financial management or accountancy 
  • passion for community action, affordable housing and sustainability
  • collaborative attitude and ability to work well with other trustees
  • good communicator with strong networking skills
  • project and time management and related IT skills
  • ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
  • a good knowledge of the local community throughout Waltham Forest.
  • understanding of Community Led Housing

Training will be provided, as well as a handover from the existing financial lead. You will not be expected to take over from day one, but being a self-starter helps!
