Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

The WCBS does important work in heritage and wellbeing. This is an opportunity to manage the charity's accounts and ensure that it meets its legal obligations to Companies House and the Charity Commission.

What will you be doing?

The treasurer is responsible for ensuring that all the financial transactions of the charity are properly recorded using Quick Books. This can be done by personally entering the data or by supervising another volunteer. Annually accounts have to be submitted to the accountant for checking and then submitted to Companies House and the Charity Commission. The treasurer normally reports to monthly committee meetings. The retiring treasurer will give help and guidance through a potentially long handover period.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal volunteer will have experience and an understanding of accountancy and book keeping and the ability to keep on top of the job. An understanding of IT and in particular online book keeping and banking systems. Good communication skills would be very helpful.

What difference will you make?

A reliable, competent, honest treasurer is vital to the proper functioning of any charity. By doing this vital task you will enable the WCBS to continue with it's important work in heritage, mental well being and environment and potentially grow to restore more historic boats and develop more projects on them.

Before you apply

If we think you are suitable for this role we'll arrange initially an informal chat and guided tour of our charity, probably followed to an invite to a committee meeting.
