We are looking for a treasurer to advise the One Newham trustee board on financial matters as this partnership network grows and takes on new projects.

What will you be doing?

One Newham is a partnership network in the East of London with a growing membership of community and voluntary organisations, currently standing at just over 170.  We have a committed trustee board, made up of senior employees of member organisations with a good breadth of skills and experience.  The board is chaired by an independent Newham resident.  One Newham was formally constituted in 2019, and has just taken on its first employee.  The network coordinator is responsible of facilitating our networks, serving the membership and delivering a range of partnership projects.  We also act as a grant administrator on behalf of Westfield and the City Bridge Foundation - each year making up to 30 small grants to community organisations.

We now need someone with the right financial background and experience to act as our treasurer.  This involves all the usual treasurer duties such as making sure the management accounts receive the necessary scrutiny, prepare annual accounts and liaise with our independent examiner.  In addition, you will also help us develop the right systems that we need to work effectively as we grow and take on new projects.

What are we looking for?

Experience in accounting.

Good understanding of Charity finance.

Good communication skills with the ability of explaining financial matters to other trustees and One Newham members.

What difference will you make?

This is a vital role as you will make sure we are fit for growth.

You will be able to contribute to developing our strategy and help us spot opportunities.  Your expertise will be crucial in helping the organisation to be financially sustainable.

Ultimately, your role will support the network of community organisations in Newham:  one of the most diverse and disadvantaged areas of the Capital.

Before you apply

If interested, then please apply through Reach.  We will offer the opportunity to talk through the role and will then ask you to send us a CV and a short statement.
