Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are looking for dedicated Trauma-Informed Therapists (English and bilingual Portuguese) to support individuals impacted by trauma, abuse. Join us in creating a safe and compassionate space where survivors can begin their healing journey.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a Trauma-Informed Therapist to support individuals who have experienced trauma, including domestic abuse, human trafficking, and exploitation. The therapist will provide one-on-one or group therapy sessions, conduct assessments, and create tailored therapeutic plans to help clients navigate their healing journey. They may also contribute to developing resources or workshops aimed at empowering survivors.

The key deliverable for this role is to provide trauma-informed therapeutic support that enables clients to make measurable progress in their healing, such as improved coping mechanisms, emotional resilience, and personal empowerment.

The therapist will work closely with our case managers, support workers, and the leadership team to ensure clients receive holistic and coordinated care. Collaboration with a team of professionals will allow the volunteer to integrate therapeutic efforts with other services offered by our organization.

While the primary focus is on delivering trauma-informed therapy, the role is flexible. Depending on the volunteer’s expertise and interests, they may also assist in training staff, developing therapeutic programs, or creating resources to further support survivors and their families. We are open to adapting the role to match the volunteer’s unique strengths and contributions.

What are we looking for?

A Trauma-Informed Therapist should have:

  • Skills: Expertise in trauma-focused therapy modalities (e.g., EMDR, CBT, somatic therapy), strong assessment and treatment planning skills, and the ability to create a safe and empowering environment for clients.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with survivors of abuse, trafficking, or exploitation, and familiarity with trauma-informed care principles. Experience in culturally diverse settings or bilingual abilities (especially Portuguese) is a plus.
  • Qualities: Deep empathy, excellent communication, adaptability, and a commitment to empowering survivors. Alignment with the Christian values of Sons and Daughters of the King and a passion for its mission are essential.

What difference will you make?

As a Trauma-Informed Therapist, you will directly impact the lives of survivors by offering them tools, support, and a path toward healing. Your ability to communicate in both English and Portuguese will help bridge gaps for individuals in need of culturally and linguistically appropriate care. By volunteering your time and expertise, you will empower survivors to rebuild their lives and inspire hope for a brighter future.
